Farming

Farming in Nyau

The property in Nyau belongs to my grandfather Jangara Timo.  It is 8 to 10 miles over the Mori River, southeast of Mundri.  My grandfather took refuge on this land between 1960 - 1972 when the first peace agreement signed between the North and the South.  This land remained dormant during the peace for 10 years.  In 1989, when the radical Islam raided our village, my grandfather and I ran back to Nyau and lived on this land for 15 years.

Since this land has been a place of refuge for my family, I hope God will use this agriculturally rich land for growing land many kinds of food and provide job opportunities to locals, which will bring a great harvest to the people of Southern Sudan.

  • The land has to be cleared and cultivated
  • Locals need to be employed to manage the farming operations
  • Tukuls (housing) would be needed for families to remain on property at all times.
  • Tools and Equipment for farming.
  • Obtain seeds needed to start farming
  • Develop water supply for irrigation.
